THE FIRST STINGRAY TRIBE ECO CAMP IS LOCATED IN THE WORLD’S HIGHEST ORGANIC TEA PLANTATION.
Perched among the clouds, your Stingray Tribe is a small and cozy camp at Kolukkumalai Hill Station. The Tentsile tree tents are pitched in the middle of the world’s highest organic tea plantation, yet off the crowd, at a height of 2300m. Tea grown here possesses a special flavour and freshness because of the high altitude. It is a beautiful scenic destination located in steep, rugged terrain, only suitable for tree tents.

A typical day at Stingray Tribe Kolukkumalai
We want to provide a stay for you to feel relaxed but with enough activities. You can do as much or as little as you want to. You can join different activities throughout the day or explore our beautiful location by yourself. Or if you want to be with the local community picking tea leaves or go on a full day hike, we’ll make that happen, too.
Your stay with us starts in the afternoon and runs until the following day around noon. You’ll get most from our locations when you stay at least for two nights.
We always try to keep our schedule as flexible as possible. But here’s what a typical stay at Stingray Tribe Kolukkumalai will look like:
DAY 1
04:00pm : Meet in Suryanelli for pick-up
05:00pm : Reach the campsite and enjoy the views
05:00pm : Tasty local dinner and bonfire night
10:00pm : Go off to sleep in your tree tent
DAY 2
05:00am : Guided sunrise hike to enjoy the blue hour
08:00am : A hearty, local group breakfast
11:00am : Guided walk downhill through the tea plantation
12:30pm : Reach back to the starting point

What is included
Price: INR 3500 / per person
This package refers to a one-night-stay. For multiple night stays, please contact us for price information.
Extras available to create the stay you want: meals beyond the standard two meals we provide, guided hikes beyond the standard sunrise and tea plantation hikes, tea factory visit, India’s longest zipline and other adventure activities.
Get a quote for your individual program! We offer group discounts or entire programs for schools or work communities.
Please note that the transport to the campsite at the Kolukkumalai Peak is not included. It is a 1 hour off road drive by jeep from Suryanelli. If you are up for some adventure, you can also reach the camp by riding your own bike. Please let us know and we are happy to organize a jeep to share with other guests (jeep costs INR 2000 carrying up to nine people, you would be charged depending on the number of guests).
