It is a very small camp with a maximum of 15 guests located in the majestic tea plantations along the foothills of Chembra Peak and offers the true wild camping experience with minimal luxury while learning about wildlife and conservation. Chembra Peak is one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats and the highest peak in Waynad hills, at 2100m. This place is an ideal destination for wild animal spotting and trekking activities.

Reconnect to yourself through nature. Enjoy bonfire nights. Learn about leave no trace camping. Watch for birds, dears, elephants and other wild animals. Explore natural swimming pools.

  • A typical day at Stingray Tribe Chembra Peak

We want to provide a stay for you to feel relaxed but with enough activities to learn about leave no trace and wildlife and conservation. Your stay with us starts in the afternoon and runs until the following day around noon. You’ll get most from our locations when you stay at least for two nights.

Here’s what a typical stay at Stingray Tribe Chembra Peak could look like:

What is included
We think our standard package will suit most traveller: Accommodation in a 2 or 3 person tree tent (share with your partner or friends or have your own as solo traveler) along with blanket and camping kit, tasty local BBQ/dinner and breakfast, night safari with our naturalist expert for wild animal spotting, guided nature hike with bird watching, education on wildlife conservation and leave no trace camping.

How you can reach us
The Stingray Tribe Chembra Peak is located eight kilometer south of Kalpetta, near the town of Meppadi. Meppadi can be reached by means of public transportation. From there, you can reach the peak through driving your own car, hopping into a tuk tuk or even walking. You are only allowed to enter the Chembra Estate telling that you are guest of the Stingray Tribe Eco Camp. We recommend meeting at our base camp bungalow which is located at the end of the Chembra Estate road (Chembra Peak Trekking Point).
